The Physics Advantage Program
How does it work?
Three tiers offer flexibility for students who need varying degrees of support. The program is designed to fit around the busy schedule of a high school student; with the standard and intensive levels providing ~2-3 hours of high-value contact time per week, some of which will be guided help on your student’s existing homework.
Each step is designed to efficiently implement part of the Physics Advantage progression:
Diagnose → Rebuild → Apply → Master → Leverage.
-
Instructional focused on the most important ideas and mathematical tools.
A dedicated 20-minute lesson each week that highlights the key principles of upcoming material. This is NOT a standard lecture—it will be laser-focused on the most important concepts and how problems tend to organize around them.
We also give special attention to honing mathematical skills that get used heavily in physics: algebra, graphical reasoning, systems of equations, and trigonometry. Many students could use refreshers or re-toolings of these subjects even if they got through the math class okay. Applying them with purpose to real-world problems can be instrumental in converting them from uncertain subjects into tools that can be confidently deployed on-demand.
-
Work through curated examples designed to develop reasoning in a live setting, as the instructor answers questions and gives individualized feedback.
We’ll meet each week in a small-group setting, working through selected examples that highlight how these concepts appear in real problems. These problems are specially curated to provide genuine exposure to problems, while also being trimmed enough to highlight specific strategies or goals without unnecessary detail.
-
A flexible small-group block where students can practice scaling their understandings into more advanced exam-level problems, and get expert guidance on how to apply our in-class lessons to their homework.
Multiple opportunities each week to get help with something you’re stuck on. This allows students to test and develop their understanding under supervision, without feeling pressured to jump to an answer they don’t understand. These are modeled after college office hours, and are a great way to tackle tough questions in a guided setting.
-
Curated problems, extra concept worksheets, and exam walkthrough videos.
Not all practice tests are created equal. The program gives access to video walkthroughs of sample exams with special attention to how they relate to what we work on throughout the week. Translating skills into into a test environment can be a skill in itself, and this program provides extensive resources to help students achieve full confidence.
We also provide extra weekly concept worksheets and video solution guides for any especially difficult topics, designed to reinforce common problem-solving difficulties before they become larger gaps. -
Regular diagnostic check-ins to identify what to work on next.
A ~15 minute monthly progress review to keep students on track and generate personalized plans for what to focus on next, and inform how I can tweak my explanatory style to their needs.

Three Tiers to Fit Your Student’s Needs
Essentials
The complete course library — every lesson, example sheet, exam walkthrough, and study guide, available on demand for the full semester.
Essentials gives your student the instructional material behind the full program, organized and available whenever they sit down to work.
Self-directed students who are keeping pace in class and want stronger material to practice with.
Best For:
-
Each week of the semester, a new video lesson covers the concept their class is working through, taught the way it actually needs to be understood rather than the way a textbook presents it. Alongside the lessons is a growing library of worked example sheets, study guides, and full-length practice exams — each exam with a video walkthrough of every problem, so a wrong answer becomes a diagnosis instead of a dead end.
This is a self-paced program. There are no live sessions and no scheduled time with the instructor, which makes it a fit for students who are broadly keeping up and mainly need better explanations and better practice material than what they’ve been given.
Essentials only works if your student will actually sit down with it each week. It's the instruction without the accountability — if that's a gamble, consider our Standard tier.
Standard
The full program — a weekly group example session, a weekly homework lab, and monthly one-on-one time, plus the complete course library.
Standard is the core program, built around two live sessions a week and supplemental video support for asynchronous practice.
Best For:
Students who need weekly structure and a reliable place to get support with tough problem sets.
-
In the group example session, your student joins five or six others while the instructor works through problems in real time — the reasoning out loud, the false starts, the “here’s how you know which equation to reach for.” That’s where the method gets taught.
In the homework lab, your student brings their own assignment. The instructor is there for the moment they hit a wall, which is the moment help is worth the most — not three days later in a review session. Labs run at several times each week, so they can pick the slot that fits around practice, work, or whatever else is on the calendar.
Once a month, they get private time with the instructor to step back and look at the pattern — not this week’s problem, but the thing that keeps causing this week’s problem.
Across a 16-week semester, Standard works out to about $188 per week for two live sessions plus the full library — less than most families pay for a single hour of private tutoring.
Intensive
Everything in Standard, plus an individual 45-minute session every week — for students who need the support with the fundamentals.
The intensive is designed for students struggling with foundational concepts who need hands-on, individualized support to rebuild the foundation.
Best For:
Students with real gaps in the underlying math and reasoning, where catching up requires more than staying on top of the current unit.
-
Some students aren’t struggling with this week’s chapter. They’re struggling because the algebra, the trigonometry, or the habit of reasoning through an unfamiliar problem never fully locked in — and physics is simply the class where that finally became impossible to work around.
Intensive is built for that situation. On top of the full Standard program, your student meets privately with the instructor for 45 minutes every week. That time isn’t spent on homework triage — the homework lab already covers that. It’s spent going back to whatever is actually missing in the underlying math and rebuilding it, deliberately, while the group sessions keep them moving forward in their course.
Every one-on-one session is recorded and posted to a private folder that both you and your student can access, so nothing is lost between weeks and you can see exactly what’s being worked on. Parents also get a check-in each month.
At about $281 per week across the semester, Intensive costs roughly what a single weekly private tutoring hour costs on its own — with the entire rest of the program included.
The results and why they matter
This program is for students who
Are preparing for a college or career path in medicine, a life/biological science, or related field
Generally do well in school but expect physics to be challenging
Want to succeed but aren’t sure how to study physics effectively
Can follow examples but may struggle with unfamiliar or highly mathematical problems
Sometimes get stuck without knowing how to begin
Would benefit from having expert help and guidance available throughout the semester
